    6" SmoothGrip Wheel 50A Durometer Blue

    Looking or a flat profile wheel with plenty of grip? Look no further than our six inch SmoothGrip wheels! Many are familiar with our flagship HiGrip wheels which feature an aggressive tread pattern great for biting hard into the ground. SmoothGrip wheels provide a strong level of traction with a longer life-span thanks to their smooth profile. They make great drive wheels on almost any surface as well as great flywheels to propel game pieces at high speed without damage. SmoothGrip wheels feature your favorite 1.125 in. bearing bore and 1.875 in. bolt circle, allowing you to mount a hub or bearing of your choice for live or dead axle setups.



    Please note, due to the way these wheels are molded the outer profile may be tapered slightly to one side, this does not significantly affect performance as a drive wheel in most applications.

    We are pleased to offer these new gussets that are suitable for 1" based building systems. These thoughtfully designed gussets are made from 1/8" thick 6061-T6 aluminum, which is a much stronger material than other 0.09" 5052 gussets. All of these framing gussets feature a 1" linear hole pattern, with holes suitable for either #10 screws or 3/16" rivets.

     

    On all of the angle gussets, a generous radius was used on the inside corner for maximum strength. The various angle gussets, along with the quad and tee gusset are used together to create structures and sub-assemblies for your robot. Our bearing and Sport gussets are perfect building blocks to create a massive variety of mechanisms and assemblies to suit your needs.

    Compliant wheels are not intended for moving robots, but moving objects. Compliant wheels give way to allow rigid objects to be manipulated easily. A line of multiple wheels on a driven hex axle creates a very effective roller that ignores variations in the objects being driven. This makes for high-performance intakes and internal conveyors.



    Different durometer ratings give each wheel unique characteristics. Green wheels (35A durometer) are the softest and most compliant around objects, while orange (40A), maroon (45A), blue (50A), and black (60A) wheels are increasingly firm. The increased firmness also allows the latter wheels to carry a higher RPM rating. Check out the downloads tab for a chart showing wheels and their maximum RPM. 

     

    Please note maroon wheels are only intended for use in FTC. If more powerful motors are used to drive it the spokes may fail.

    These 2.25" diameter HD (heavy-duty) solid-core Compliant Wheels are intended for manipulating objects where you need a little 'give' in your intake system. These wheels deform out of the way to allow rigid objects to be manipulated easily. This makes for high-performance intakes and internal conveyors. These wheels do not require the use of expensive hubs to be driven, thanks to their integrated high strength polycarbonate hubs - which are made from the same mold that creates our Hex Molded Spacers.

    Battery Beak for FRC

    This is a battery load tester, capable of delivering an 18 amp load and measuring:

    • Internal resistance
    • State of charge (SOC)
    • Can determine the overall health of the battery

     

    The Battery Beak supports all battery chemistries but has additional features to determine battery health for both Lead Acid and NiMH chemistries in a variety of voltages and capacities. The Battery Beak mates directly with the SB-50A connector used in the FIRST Robotics Competition, but we've created bundles for FIRST Tech Challenge and Vex Robotics users to give them the same great experience. These bundles ship with the Battery Beak configured for the correct battery type and with the appropriate adapter cable for those battery terminals.

    The high resolution OLED display displays all the information you need for a quick decision on battery health:

    • Internal resistance
    • SOC
    • Open-load voltage
    • Voltage at 1 amp and 18 amps
    • Battery status of 'Good', 'Fair' or 'Bad'

    The internal resistance measurement is useful in determining if any bad cells are present. When the Battery Beak is used to track a battery's internal resistance over time and compared to its manufacturer specs, it is possible to determine when to take a battery out of service before a failure occurs. The built in powerdown feature allows the Beak to be connected to your battery indefinitely without draining your battery. The housing of the Beak is a durable ABS/Polycarbonate blend and mates directly to the Anderson SB-50A connector.



    Included with this part is the Battery Beak and a stylish lanyard.


    FIRST Tech Challenge Version Overview (am-3430):


    This version of the Battery Beak is designed with FIRST Tech Challenge teams in mind. When you order this version, your Battery Beak will arrive configured for the 12V 3Ah NiMH batteries used in FIRST Tech Challenge. You will also receive the new SB-50A to Tamiya and PowerPole cable necessary to connect to your batteries, whether you left them stock or converted them to PowerPole connectors.



    Included Hardware:

     

    • One - FIRST Tech Challenge Battery Configured Battery Beak
    • One - SB-50A to Tamiya Adapter (am-2070a) Note: Don't use both the Tamiya and PowerPole connectors at the same time. It will form a complete circuit, which could damage your batteries.


    Vex Version Overview (am-3431):


    This version of the Battery Beak was made for Vex users! Your Battery Beak will come configured for Vex's 7.2V 3000mAh NiMH batteries, and it will have the adapter cable you need to connect to Vex batteries.

    If you use the 2000 mAh batteries, you can reconfigure your Battery Beak in seconds to support the different capacity. Instructions are in the User Manual (PDF).
