Motors
The CIM motor is a tried and true FIRST Robotics Competition workhorse motor. This brushed DC motor is 2.5 inches in diameter and kicks out 337 watts of power.
Pinion Options:
The CIM motor shaft is 0.313 in. (8 mm) in diameter and 1.25 inches long. It features a 2 mm wide machine key slot allowing installation of any number of custom or off the shelf pinions such as those included with all of our CIM based gearboxes. Other options include a pre-attached 16 tooth pinion making the CIM ready to mate to a CIM Sport planetary gearbox or a pre-attached 15 tooth pinion preparing the CIM for an EVO Gearbox. Use either of these two options if you are planning on using either the CIM Sport or an EVO gearbox and don't want to install the press fit pinion yourself. All of our other CIM based gearboxes use a slip fit pinion & machine key and are easy for the end user to install.

The Studica Linear Servo RC Actuator 140S-190N is a new Servo motor which has a stroke of 140mm and a max force of 190N. It works the same way as the any standard rotary servo but in a linear movement. It uses the same 2.54mm Dupont 3-Pin Female wire connector and can be controlled with an RC receiver or any device that controls a servo. Includes mounting brackets.
The Studica Fast Multi-Mode Smart Servo features all-steel gears and large amounts of torque. This angular programmable Servo can fill a variety of roles on your robot or project. In standard mode, it operates on a +/- 150-degree range. Using the Studica Smart Robot Servo Programmer (sold separately) the Fast Multi-mode Smart Servo can be configured to run in continuous, standard, and custom angular mode. In continuous rotation mode, the servo will have proportional speed control based on the PWM signal that you send with your servo controller.
485 Servo Pack is one of the best choices for rugged robotic applications. This servo’s great performance and durability are a combination of karbonite gears, high-performance circuitry, and a ball bearing-supported output shaft. Karbonite gearing is nearly four times stronger than nylon gears and provides virtually wear-free performance. Standard rotational range is 90 degrees, but it can be operated to 180 degrees with controllers capable of generating a pulse range from 600 usec to 2400 usec. Produces nearly 84 oz-in of torque power.
TETRIX MAX Continuous Rotation Servo enables precise movements of robot designs. Unlike other servos that have a limited range of motion, this servo rotates continuously in either direction – as needed for wheels. This high-quality servo is designed with a wide neutral dead band to eliminate the “creep” that occurs in many other continuous rotation servos. Dual ball bearings on the output shaft ensure long-lasting performance.
Note: This servo does not have position feedback.

The NeveRest 40 is a gearmotor with an attached encoder. The output shaft geometry and the gearbox housing diameter is similar to what FTC teams are familiar with. The shaft is a 6 mm D and the gearbox housing is 37 mm diameter.
FIRST Legality:
Encoder:
There is an encoder mounted to the backside of this motor. It is a 7 pulse per revolution (ppr), hall effect encoder. Since the motor's gearbox has a 40:1 reduction, then the NeverRest 40 output shaft provides 280 ppr.
Encoder Cable Options:
NeveRest motors do not come with an encoder cable as we offer 3 cable options:
am-3926a allows you to connect the encoder directly to the FIRST Tech Challenge REV Controller.
am-2992 has the 4 encoder pins joined in one housing using standard 0.1" spacing.
am-2993 allows you to break out the 4 pins separately if you need them in a different order.
Working with the Encoders:
Performance Specs:
Force Needed to Break Gearbox: 1478 oz-in
Time to Failure at Stall: 2 minutes, 54 seconds
Motor Case Temperature at Failure: 190 degrees F
