This 40 tooth aluminum gear is pivotal in steering the Swerve & Steer module. It mates with a 48 tooth gear which is driven from the PG71 gear-motor. The surface of this aluminum gear is treated with a very durable hard coat anodization to allow for wear. This gear receives a fairly low torque, and therefore aluminum is a good, lightweight material for it's use.

There is a hub, there is a gear, there are two retaining rings. Put them together into your assembly. If the gear ratio / shaft size / output / whatever isn’t working rinse and repeat with a new hub or gear.
This 40 tooth gear is intended to be used in conjunction with a 6mm Collar Clamp (am-3473) and installed onto a NeveRest Motor (am-3104) without any gearbox or pinion attached to the motor shaft. This gear can also be used with any motor with a 0.125 in. output shaft.
This gear can be used in the used in the Toughbox series gearboxes, replacing the 50 Tooth Large Output Gear. It would be paired with a 21 Tooth Small Cluster Gear, in order to increase the output speed of the Toughbox.
Standard Toughbox output reduction: 12.75:1 New Toughbox output reduction, using this gear and a 21 Tooth Small Cluster Gear: 7.31:1
