The CIM Sport is a competition tested high performance line of planetary gearboxes from AndyMark and BaneBots. The CIM Sport features numerous improvements over previous planetary gearboxes used on FIRST Robotics Competition robots.
The cold formed steel gears inside this gearbox are a 0.7 Module tooth profile which is 40% larger than the vast majority of planetary gearbox gears previously used on competition robots. The gears are larger, but the housing's size has been optimized to reduce any unnecessary volume. This means you get more reliability without sacrificing precious space. This housing is also one solid piece of aluminium, ensuring that there is no possibility for misalignment of the stages during assembly or during the rigors of match play. Three stage, and now optionally two stage, versions of these gearboxes also feature an "HD" stage, with gears approximately double the face width of the other stages as well as a strengthened carrier plate. These larger gears on the output stage ensure that it will handle heavy or cantilevered loads without worry. The carrier plates are made of hardened 4140 steel and interface to the output shaft with a robust hex bore. New for 2019 we are opening up the use of every available gear ratio with every available motor input meaning there are some combinations that could theoretically exceed the gearboxes design characteristics. As such the blanket warranty we offered on these gearboxes in the past will be discontinued for future purchases. Rest assured that AndyMark still stands behind our product 100% and if you feel that there is a problem with your gearbox or any of our products please contact us and we will make it right. To help you decide which gearboxes to use for your application please reference the below table which includes the maximum torque that the gearbox is designed to take before it will fail. A free packet of red tacky grease (am-2768) is included with every gearbox purchased. This grease must be used to coat every internal surface of the gearbox before use. The CIM Sport includes mounting hardware for any CIM style motor including the CIM, the MiniCIM, or the NEO. To install one of these motors, first remove any installed pinion from the motor and press on the included pinion gear using an arbor press or bench vice. This press fit ensures a solid mechanical connection between the pinion gear and the motor. This pinion assembly is not susceptible to vibration and never needs to be checked once installed. All ratios of Blue Sport Gearboxes use a 4:1 input stage, with the same tooth count pinion, so motors and gearboxes can be switched out with ease. The CIM Sport can be used with the optional alternative short back block (am-3769). This can be used to shorten any ratio of the gearbox by 0.92 in. and lighten it by 0.23lb. To use this back block the CIM output shaft must be cut down by 0.92 in. and the pinion pressed onto this shortened shaft. For detailed instructions please see the Motor Installation Guide under the downloads tab.
Common Physical Specifications:
This is a heavy-duty compression lug from BURNDY for 06 AWG wire. This compression log can be easily crimped with the Cable Lug Crimping Tool.
#35 Connecting Link (Master Link) Specifications:
These custom designed collar clamps have been designed specifically with FIRST Robotics Competition teams in mind. The one-piece collar clamp is a nice fractional 1/2 in. width to make shaft stackups easy. The clamping force is provided by a 10-32 socket head screw, which is bigger than most used in the competition marketplace. This provides a high-strength clamping solution that shouldn't strip out when you need it most. You can even replace the 10-32 screw if it becomes lost with the screws historically used in the AM14U family of chassis. These thoughtfully designed collar clamps also have small bosses on each side. This allows these collar clamps to be installed directly adjacent to an FR8ZZ Round or FR8ZZ Hex bearing without rubbing on the outer races for smooth operation.
This is a Heavy Duty Hex Bearing which outperforms our previous 1/2" Hex Bearings as it has a Heavy Duty Inner Race. This FR8ZZ-HexHD bearing, 1/2" hex bore, flanged, heavy duty inner race, shielded ball bearing, has an inner race that is thicker and stronger than our recent offering of a similar bearing (am-0279). This bearing has more material between the corners of the hex bore and the edge of the race making it stronger and much less likely to crack under high load. This bearing is guaranteed to have a stronger, thicker race. 100% of these bearings have been quality checked for a smooth fit over 1/2" hex stock here at AndyMark. Many of our long-time customers will recognize this bearing, as it is the same version we sold back in 2008-2011, and we did not have any failures. Now, it is renamed and quality checked for your high load needs - including drive chassis with cantilevered wheels.
Specifications:
This 16T 0.7 Module steel gear is used in the Falcon Sport gearbox. This gear is available separately for teams who want to convert their existing CIM Sport gearboxes into Falcon Sports without having to repurchase entire gearboxes. Use this in conjunction with our Falcon Sport Input Plate as well as a Falcon 500 Short Shaft for a budget-minded high-power upgrade to your CIM Sport!
Churro is a versatile extruded aluminum hex profile. The outside of this part is a 1/2 in. hex with small concave dimples which act as weight savings. There is an inside hole is sized at 0.2 in. in order to fit 1/4-20 thread forming screws. No tapping or threading is needed, as long as a thread forming screw is used. The outside hex size fits a 1/2 in. wrench or socket. The 3-foot churro, our most popular length and the best value on shipping, is available anodized in red, blue, purple, gold and black to dress up your robot. Anodized finish is hardy and doesn't flake off or add thickness like paint, but it is possible for a scratch to expose the bare metal beneath. Take basic precautions in your shop like watching for sharp tools or overtightening this churro in a vise. Specifications:
