The NeveRest Orbital 20 is a gearmotor with an attached encoder. The output shaft geometry and the gearbox housing diameter is similar to what FTC teams are familiar with. The shaft is a 6 mm D and the gearbox housing is 37 mm diameter.
The power cable which feeds into the black encoder housing has two different options that are already crimped to the end of the cable. (select your needs above):
FIRST Legality:
Usage:
Encoder: There is an encoder mounted to the backside of this motor. It is a 7 pulse per revolution (ppr), hall effect encoder. Since the motor's gearbox has a 19.2:1 reduction, then the NeverRest Orbital 20 output shaft provides 134.4 ppr.
Encoder Cable Options: NeveRest motors do not come with an encoder cable as we offer 3 cable options:
am-3926a allows you to connect the encoder directly to the FIRST Tech Challenge REV Controller. am-2992 has the 4 encoder pins joined in one housing using standard 0.1" spacing. am-2993 allows you to break out the 4 pins separately if you need them in a different order. Working with the Encoders:
Performance Specs: Time to Failure at Stall: 2 minutes, 54 seconds Motor Case Temperature at Failure: 190 degrees F
The Studica Multi-Mode Smart Servo features all-steel gears and large amounts of torque. This angular programmable Servo can fill a variety of roles on your robot or project. In standard mode, it operates on a +/- 150-degree range. Using the Studica Smart Robot Servo Programmer (sold separately) the Multi-mode Smart Servo can be configured to run in continuous, standard, and custom angular mode. In continuous rotation mode, the servo will have proportional speed control based on the PWM signal that you send with your servo controller.
Specifications:
Type: Metal Brush Motor Horn Gear Spline: 25T (5.9mm) Size: 40mm x 20.1mm x 38.3mm Weight: 65g Maximum Speed: 62RPM at 6V Stall Torque: 20kg.cm at 6V Voltage: 6-7 4V Cable: 22AWG, 75cm
These gearboxes are designed with the same 37 mm diameter as the original 60:1 gearbox, while using the same 6 mm D-shaft and alignment pins, so getting the additional speed you need is a breeze.
The 20 Tooth GT2-6mm Timing Belt Pulley can be used with any of the GT2 belts.
The 40 Tooth GT2-6mm Timing Belt Pulley can be used with any of the GT2 belts.
The Studica 30T Servo 25T Spline Gear is used with the Studica Multi-Mode Smart Servo or Studica Multi-Mode Smart Servo 200.
The 6mm diameter D -Shaft is made of stainless steel and is used throughout our building system as drive components. The D-Shaft profile is used with pulleys, gears and hubs when tightening the set screws and creating a non-slip connection.
Specifcation:
Compliant wheels are not intended for moving robots, but moving objects. Compliant wheels give way to allow rigid objects to be manipulated easily. A line of multiple wheels on a driven hex axle creates a very effective roller that ignores variations in the objects being driven. This makes for high-performance intakes and internal conveyors.
Different durometer ratings give each wheel unique characteristics. Green wheels (35A durometer) are the softest and most compliant around objects, maroon (45A), blue (50A), and black (60A) wheels are increasingly firm. The increased firmness also allows the latter wheels to carry a higher RPM rating. Check out the downloads tab for a chart showing wheels and their maximum RPM.

These 2.25" diameter HD (heavy-duty) solid-core Compliant Wheels are intended for manipulating objects where you need a little 'give' in your intake system. These wheels deform out of the way to allow rigid objects to be manipulated easily. This makes for high-performance intakes and internal conveyors. These wheels do not require the use of expensive hubs to be driven, thanks to their integrated high strength polycarbonate hubs - which are made from the same mold that creates our Hex Molded Spacers.
